  • 4,000 firefighters protect 80 per cent of Alberta's population
  • 80 per cent of Alberta's firefighters are volunteers
  • Alberta has 435 fire rescue departments

Regional Collaboration

Alberta has a number of regionally-based collaborations where communities have combined their resources to deliver fire rescue services: Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority, Pincher Creek Emergency Services, Beaver Emergency Services Commission. Many more are in development. The Government of Alberta also operates fire rescue services in Special Areas of southeastern Alberta and in the Kananaskis Improvement District.
